“A reader emailed us claiming a published paper was plagiarized, and my editors did not know whether to contact the author, the institution or a lawyer first.” Most editorial teams learn publication ethics by crisis. A single mishandled case can cost a journal its reputation and its indexing status, and indexing reviewers increasingly ask how editors are trained.

NeucitePress runs a training cohort for your editors, editorial board members and regular reviewers: a live virtual workshop that works through plagiarism, authorship disputes, conflicts of interest, data and image integrity, peer-review manipulation, complaint handling and retraction, using COPE Core Practices and flowcharts applied to realistic cases, with a follow-up Q&A once the team has had time to apply what they learned.

How It Works

What Stays With Your Editors

The journal’s editors keep final authority over reviewer selection, editorial assessment, acceptance and the handling of every ethics case. The training equips them to make those decisions; NeucitePress runs the training program and provides the materials.

Important Limitations

• Up to 15 participants per cohort; additional participants at $50 per person.
• Delivered virtually; in-person training is quoted separately.
• Training provides general guidance based on COPE practices and is not legal advice for any jurisdiction.
• Completion certificates document attendance; they are not an accreditation issued by COPE or any other body.

Common Questions

Can we record the session?
Yes. Recordings are provided for the journal’s internal use only.

Can reviewers attend alongside editors?
Yes. The cohort is designed for mixed groups and includes a segment written for reviewers.

Do you review our ethics policies as part of this?
We read them to customize the cases. A formal policy audit is a separate service (see the Annual COPE / ICMJE Compliance Review).
