The history of surgery and surgical education is a tapestry woven with threads of triumph and tribulation. From the morally questionable practice of grave robbing to the establishment of the ACGME’s core competencies, the journey of surgery as a discipline has been one of substantial evolution and refinement.
Developing a skilled surgeon remains a Herculean task, constrained by time, complexity, and ethical considerations.
