How It Works

1. Application — we prepare and submit the Crossref membership application and agree the prefix.
2. Configuration — plugins, metadata mapping, ORCID and reference linking set up on your OJS installation.
3. Initial registration — the first 50 DOIs are deposited and verified as resolving.
4. Handover — training and a written procedure for ongoing deposits.

What Stays With Your Editors

The journal’s editors keep final authority over reviewer selection, editorial assessment and acceptance. Crossref membership, the prefix and every DOI belong to the publisher. NeucitePress runs the onboarding, configuration and training process.

Important Limitations

• The price shown is NeucitePress’s professional fee. Fees charged by external organizations are separate and passed through at cost — including Crossref’s annual membership fee and per-DOI registration fees, which are set by Crossref and billed by Crossref.
• Crossref decides membership eligibility; NeucitePress prepares and submits the application.
• Written for OJS 3.x. Other platforms can be configured and are quoted individually.
• DOIs beyond the first 50 are registered by your team using the procedure provided, or by NeucitePress under a separate arrangement.

Common Questions

Can we get DOIs without joining Crossref ourselves?
Yes, through a sponsoring member. We advise which route suits your volume and budget and set up whichever you choose.

Will DOIs get us into Scopus or DOAJ?
DOIs and clean metadata are expected by indexers but are not sufficient on their own. Inclusion is decided solely by each database.

Do you register DOIs for our back issues?
Yes, within the first 50; larger backfiles are quoted per article.
