Overview

“The ISSN center bounced our application twice: once because the title on the site did not match the form, once because we had not published anything yet.” Every serial publication needs an ISSN, and each format (print, online) needs its own. The application itself is short, but national centers apply specific rules about title form, evidence of publication, publisher identity and format, and they reject applications that do not meet them.

NeucitePress reviews whether your publication is eligible and ready, prepares the application and supporting materials in the form your national center expects, submits it, and answers the center’s queries until the ISSN is assigned.

What Stays With Your Editors

The journal’s editors keep final authority over reviewer selection, editorial assessment and acceptance. The ISSN is issued in the publisher’s name and belongs to the publisher; NeucitePress runs the administrative process.

Important Limitations

• ISSN assignment is decided by the national ISSN center or the ISSN International Centre. NeucitePress prepares and submits; it cannot guarantee assignment or the center’s turnaround.
• The price shown is NeucitePress’s professional fee. Fees charged by external organizations, including any charged by an ISSN center, are separate and passed through at cost.
• Print and online editions require separate ISSNs; this service covers one format. Both formats can be bundled for $499.
• Some centers require published content before assignment; the eligibility review tells you whether you need to publish first.

Common Questions

Do we need both a print and an online ISSN?
Only if you publish in both formats. Online-only journals need one e-ISSN.

Can we apply before the first issue?
It depends on the national center. Some assign in advance on the basis of a live website with a sample; others require published content. The eligibility review confirms which applies to you.

What if our country has no ISSN center?
Applications go to the ISSN International Centre in Paris; the process and timeline are similar.
