Journal Identity Package
Overview
“Our PDFs are Word documents with a title in bold, and the cover is a JPEG someone made in 2019.” A journal’s visual identity shapes how authors, readers and indexing reviewers judge it before they read a word. A coherent identity signals that the journal is run seriously; a default theme and improvised templates signal the opposite.
NeucitePress designs an original identity for your journal and delivers it as a complete, usable system: logo, colors, typography, the cover and article templates production will use every issue, branded correspondence templates, and a short style guide so the identity stays consistent after handover.
Who this is for: new journals establishing an identity before launch, established journals refreshing dated branding, and journals preparing for indexing where presentation is assessed.

What Stays With Your Editors
The journal’s editors keep final authority over reviewer selection, editorial assessment and acceptance, and the journal chooses and approves every design decision. NeucitePress runs the design process and delivers the files.
Important Limitations
- Two revision rounds included; additional rounds at $150 per round.
- Website design and implementation are not included; see Journal Website & Author Experience Redesign. The identity assets are built to be applied there.
- Covers one journal; portfolio identities for a press or society are priced separately.
- Original design work; NeucitePress does not adapt stock templates.
Common Questions
Can we use the identity on our website and social media?
Yes. The assets are delivered for all media; applying them to the website is a separate service.
What do you need from us?
The journal name and scope, examples of journals whose look you like and dislike, any existing elements to keep, and prompt feedback on concepts.
Does the article template work with OJS?
Yes. The template is delivered in formats that production staff or the On-Time Issues service can use for typesetting.
Every engagement can begin with the Journal Health Check.
