“We keep hearing that we should apply to Scopus, but nobody can tell us whether we actually qualify, or what we would be rejected for.” That is the question this report answers. Most journals fail indexing assessments on editorial and publishing-history criteria, not on platform gaps, and each database applies different rules on age, article counts, board composition, ethics policies, metadata and citation patterns.

How It Works

1. Intake — you share the journal URL, publishing history, policies and board list; we agree which databases to assess.
2. Assessment — we score the journal against each database’s published criteria and document the evidence.
3. Report and roadmap — you receive the eligibility matrix, gap lists and dated roadmap.
4. Review call — we present the findings, answer questions and agree next steps. Premium clients continue with monthly coaching calls for twelve months.

What Stays With Your Editors

The journal’s editors keep final authority over reviewer selection, editorial assessment and acceptance decisions. NeucitePress runs the assessment process and the reporting infrastructure; policy changes and board appointments recommended in the roadmap are decided and adopted by the journal.

Important Limitations

• Inclusion is decided solely by DOAJ, Scopus, Web of Science, NLM (MEDLINE/PMC), EBSCO, ERIH PLUS, CNKI or the relevant regional list. NeucitePress prepares, remediates and submits; it cannot sell inclusion.
• This is an eligibility assessment and roadmap. Application preparation and submission are separate services, listed in the roadmap with their own scope.
• The report reflects the journal at the time of assessment and the criteria the databases publish at that time; databases revise their criteria periodically.

Common Questions

Can you just tell us to apply to everything at once?
No. Applying before a journal is eligible usually results in a rejection and, for Scopus and Web of Science, a mandatory waiting period before re-application. The roadmap sequences applications so that each one is submitted when the criteria are met.

Which tier should we choose?
Basic covers DOAJ eligibility and a quality gap analysis. Standard adds the Scopus and Web of Science assessment, the policy gap review and the dated roadmap. Premium adds board composition advice, an author outreach plan, twelve months of monthly coaching calls and application preparation support.

Do we need to be on OJS?
No. The assessment works for any platform; OJS journals receive platform-specific configuration notes where relevant.
