Is this you?

The editor is doing the managing editor’s job

Most journals have one person doing three jobs. Pick the line that sounds like your inbox.

"There are forty submissions in OJS I have not looked at. Half are out of scope, and I still have to read each one to find out."

→ Start with Submission Pre-Check — screened before you see the paper.

"I invite six reviewers to get one. Then the author emails asking why it has been four months."

→ Start with Find Reviewers & Follow Up — a shortlist for your approval; we chase.

"Our managing editor left. Nobody else knows the workflow, and the next issue is due in six weeks."

→ Start with the Interim Managing Editor — month by month until you hire.

"The board wants a status report and I cannot say how many papers are in review, or how late."

→ Start with the Managed Editorial Office — weekly status, monthly report.

How it works

From signed order to a running editorial office

1

Weeks 1–2: onboarding

You give us an OJS managing-editor account. We load your templates, agree a service-level document (who answers what, how fast) and list every open submission with its next action.

2

Every submission is screened and routed

Each paper is checked for scope, completeness, formatting and ethics statements. Failures go back to the author with a letter. The rest go to the handling editor you named, with a short summary.

3

Reviewers sourced for your approval; we chase

For each paper we send the editor a candidate shortlist. Once approved, we invite, remind, replace non-responders and flag any paper past the deadline you set. The editor reads the reports and decides.

4

Weekly status, monthly report

Each week the editor-in-chief gets a short status: submissions in, decisions out, papers overdue. Each month the board gets a report with turnaround times, ready to forward.

Who decides what

Your editors decide. We run the process.

Editorial independence

The journal’s own editors keep final authority over reviewer selection, editorial assessment and acceptance. NeucitePress runs the process and the infrastructure — never the decision.

Platform independence

Open-source software (OJS), your own domain, your own DOI prefix, and full data export on request. You can leave at any time with everything.

No indexing guarantees

Inclusion in DOAJ, Scopus, Web of Science, MEDLINE or any other database is decided solely by that database. We prepare, document and apply — we do not promise outcomes.

Nothing goes out unsigned

Reviewer shortlists, return-to-author letters and decision letters are drafts until an editor approves them. Unsigned, they do not go out.

FAQ

Questions editors ask before they buy

Both are priced by monthly submission volume. Submission Pre-Check runs $149–$599 a month; Find Reviewers & Follow Up runs $249–$799. You pick the tier on the product page and move tiers at the next renewal if volume changes. No per-manuscript surcharge inside a tier.
Onboarding takes about two weeks from the day we get OJS access. The monthly service at $1,999 renews month to month with no minimum term. The annual agreement at $21,599 is a twelve-month contract sold only through a written proposal, not the cart.
Editorial decisions, which stay with your editors. Copyediting, typesetting and DOI registration, which belong to the production pillar. Statistical review and reporting-guideline checks, ordered per manuscript. OJS hosting is a separate line; the peer-review workflow itself costs $0 per submission once hosted with us.
These services are built around Open Journal Systems, where we hold the managing-editor role and keep the records. On another platform, we can run the office as part of a transfer to OJS, or scope a proposal for your current system. Say which platform you use and we will tell you which services carry over.
You do. Everything lives in your OJS installation: reviewer profiles, submission histories, templates, workflow configuration. If you end the service, we hand over the open-items list, export what you ask for and remove our accounts. No exit fee.

Get the managing editor’s job off the editor’s desk

Tell us your submission volume, your platform and where the backlog is. You get a written reply, not a sales call.

Nothing above $2,000 is sold by self-checkout — those requests come back as a written proposal within 3 business days.
