The editor is doing the managing editor’s job
Most journals have one person doing three jobs. Pick the line that sounds like your inbox.
"There are forty submissions in OJS I have not looked at. Half are out of scope, and I still have to read each one to find out."
→ Start with Submission Pre-Check — screened before you see the paper."I invite six reviewers to get one. Then the author emails asking why it has been four months."
→ Start with Find Reviewers & Follow Up — a shortlist for your approval; we chase."Our managing editor left. Nobody else knows the workflow, and the next issue is due in six weeks."
→ Start with the Interim Managing Editor — month by month until you hire."The board wants a status report and I cannot say how many papers are in review, or how late."
→ Start with the Managed Editorial Office — weekly status, monthly report.Journal editorial office services, per month or per manuscript

From signed order to a running editorial office
Weeks 1–2: onboarding
You give us an OJS managing-editor account. We load your templates, agree a service-level document (who answers what, how fast) and list every open submission with its next action.
Every submission is screened and routed
Each paper is checked for scope, completeness, formatting and ethics statements. Failures go back to the author with a letter. The rest go to the handling editor you named, with a short summary.
Reviewers sourced for your approval; we chase
For each paper we send the editor a candidate shortlist. Once approved, we invite, remind, replace non-responders and flag any paper past the deadline you set. The editor reads the reports and decides.
Weekly status, monthly report
Each week the editor-in-chief gets a short status: submissions in, decisions out, papers overdue. Each month the board gets a report with turnaround times, ready to forward.
Your editors decide. We run the process.
Editorial independence
The journal’s own editors keep final authority over reviewer selection, editorial assessment and acceptance. NeucitePress runs the process and the infrastructure — never the decision.
Platform independence
Open-source software (OJS), your own domain, your own DOI prefix, and full data export on request. You can leave at any time with everything.
No indexing guarantees
Inclusion in DOAJ, Scopus, Web of Science, MEDLINE or any other database is decided solely by that database. We prepare, document and apply — we do not promise outcomes.
Nothing goes out unsigned
Reviewer shortlists, return-to-author letters and decision letters are drafts until an editor approves them. Unsigned, they do not go out.
Questions editors ask before they buy
Get the managing editor’s job off the editor’s desk
Tell us your submission volume, your platform and where the backlog is. You get a written reply, not a sales call.
Nothing above $2,000 is sold by self-checkout — those requests come back as a written proposal within 3 business days.
