Overview

Sending a paper to a copyeditor, then to a typesetter, then back to the author twice, is where weeks disappear and errors creep in. Copyediting + Typesetting puts the whole production of an article in one pass with one team, so the author sees one proof and the editor chases one contact.

This is for journals on Open Journal Systems (OJS), the free, open-source software from PKP, or any other platform, that want production handled end to end without committing to a volume or a term.

What’s Included

• Copyedit — everything in Copyediting & Proofreading: house-style language edit, reference and citation check, tracked changes, author queries
• Typesetting — everything in Article Typesetting: layout to your template, figure and table placement, typeset PDF, HTML, JATS XML and accessible PDF
• Single proof cycle — the author receives one typeset proof with the copyediting queries embedded, answers once, and we finalize
• Delivery — galleys loaded into OJS or delivered as a package
• One contact — a named production coordinator for your journal

How It Works

1. You send the accepted manuscript, figures and target issue.
2. We copyedit, then typeset directly from the edited file.
3. One proof goes to the author with queries; corrections come back.
4. Final files delivered. Pricing is per 500 words of manuscript text, plus a charge per figure. Equations and tables are included. No minimum order and no contract.

Important Limitations

• Manuscript condition — papers needing substantive rewriting are flagged before work begins and may be quoted separately.
• Figures — placed as supplied; redrawing and enhancement are separate.
• Correction rounds — one round of author corrections is included; extensive late changes are charged.
• External fees — none. DOIs are registered under your journal’s own Crossref arrangement.

Common Questions

Is this cheaper than buying the two services separately?
The combined rate reflects the saved handoffs; ask for the current rate card.

Can we send a whole issue at once?

Who talks to the author?
Either us or your editor, as you prefer. Many journals let our coordinator handle proof correspondence directly.
